A few months back, this popped up on my newsfeed. Many commented “how sad” or “such a good man” and more.
Many shared their favorite episodes even using video clips, “A Feud is a Feud”, “Those Gossip’n Men” and “Citizen’s Arrest” which is my personal favorite. Many lamented over such a noble icon now gone.
Many did not realize that he passed on this very day, but back in 2012. Yep. Four years.
Details, people, details. And time stamp and fact check. And just plain ole research and some good ole fashioned digging.
So when you come across something that seems shocking that I would be putting this in my body, ask me about it. All product information is listed on the website with large, clear, easy to read ingredient labels. But the internet has old information and even fabricated ones.
Let’s take a look. Below our two labels for Plexus Block. The one on the left is directly pulled from my website. shopmyplexus.com/kristinadelange
The right, no clue. I have no idea if it is an old label, fabricated completely or what. That’s the trouble, no one can confirm either way. What I do know is that what is listed on the left is what is in the current Block being sold by me today.
Now let’s talk about the circled concern. Silicon dioxide. Sounds horrible. What’s the rule about not being able to pronounce, don’t eat. Food, yes. Supplements, no. There will be lots of things hard say that are still good and necessary.
Is silicon dioxide safe?
Known is silica, it’s a natural compound made of two of the earth’s most abundant materials: silicon and oxygen. Most often recognized in the form of quartz, silicon dioxide is found naturally in water, plants, animals, and within the Earth. The Earth’s crust is 59 percent silica, and it makes up more than 95 percent of known rocks on the planet. When you sit on a beach, it’s silicon dioxide in the form of sand that gets between your toes. It’s even found naturally in the tissues of your body, though it’s unclear whether it serves any physiological role.
So why is it in food and supplements?
In foods it is used to prevent clumping and in supplements, it’s used to prevent the various powdered ingredients from sticking together. This is a better alternative than corn starch as this is a food trigger for many. Plexus tries to eliminate any and all food sensitivities.
Silicon dioxide is found naturally in many plants. For example, leafy green vegetables, beets, bell peppers, brown rice and oats, and alfalfa. Numerous studies have found no health risks associated with this particular ingredient. Research has shown that the silica we consume doesn’t accumulate in our bodies; rather, it’s flushed out by the kidneys.
In the United States, the FDA says silicon dioxide should not exceed 2 percent of a food’s total weight.
The takeaway? Silicon dioxide exists naturally within the earth and our bodies. There is no evidence to suggest it is dangerous.
